“Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37–38 NKJV)
Last night we were blessed to be a part of Harvest America. Along with over 2000 churches across America and millions of people connected by TV, radio and the internet we listened to Pastor Greg Laurie as he presented the Gospel. The result was that over two nights at Angel Stadium in Anaheim CA, thousands of people gave the lives to Christ.
What became so apparent to those watching is that the fields are white for the harvest, they always have been. Every year the farmer tills the soil, plants the seed and waits for the fruit of his labor. When the planted fields grow to maturity then it is time for the harvest. We are those farmers, we allow the Holy Spirit to till the soil, break-up the fallow ground of men's hearts through the sharing of the Word of God. Then the seed of the Word is planted and in due time that seed brings forth the fruit of the Gospel message, and then the harvest.
The question every christian has to answer is not only are we willing to be a part of the Harvest, but are we willing to till the soil of men's hearts and then to plant the seed of the Word through sharing the Gospel.
Yes, we were all blessed when we saw people going forward last night to receive Christ, but we don't ever want to forget that there were thousands that were planting the seed of the Gospel message long before that Harvest took place last night. Are you ready, are you willing, are you available to be one of those "laborers" that Jesus talked about?
