John chapter three opens with one of the most unusual conversations that Jesus would have during His three or so years of public ministry. He is talking with a prominent religious leader of the day, Nicodemus, a Pharisee.
This man recognizes the fact thatJesus is a teacher sent from God. But what he will soon realize is how life changing this conversation will be. Notice the immediate response from Jesus to this man; "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
That's right, Jesus gets to the heart of the matter, the heart condition of Nicodemus. This is a man that has religion, but not a relationship with the Son of God. There are countless people who will attend religious services this Sunday, but how many will encounter the presence of God and the power of the Holy Spirit in a meaningful way? This is not a judgement on my part, rather a heartfelt question for all who will come to worship a true and living God.
I pray that the Spirit of God would fall upon all our worship services in a powerful way as we come to seek Christ!
